Searching for the Authentic

“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” (John 6:27 NIV)

In John 6, the crowds pursue Jesus with great enthusiasm, crossing the lake to find Him. Yet Jesus exposes the true motive behind their search: they were not seeking Him, but the bread He provided. Their pursuit was energetic, but not authentic. They desired miracles, provision, and comfort; yet they missed the deeper invitation to know the One who gives life. Jesus redirects their focus: “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life.”

Authentic faith is not built on what Jesus does for us, but on who He is to us. The Bread of Life calls us beyond temporary satisfaction into eternal purpose. He invites us to hunger for truth, to desire transformation, and to pursue relationship rather than convenience.

In a world filled with spiritual noise and shallow pursuits, Jesus challenges us to examine our motives. Are we following Him for blessings, or for life? Today, let each of us renew our search for the authentic—Christ Himself. May our zeal be rooted in revelation, our worship shaped by truth, and our discipleship anchored in the eternal Bread that never perishes. Let us seek Jesus not for what fades, but for what endures forever.
