“To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.” (1 Corinthians 9:22-23 NIV)
God’s mission is not merely a programme of the Church; it is heartbeat of God reaching out to a lost world. From generation to generation, He calls ordinary men and women to participate in His extraordinary purpose of making Christ known among all peoples. Apostle Paul’s life and words reveal a life wholly surrendered to God’s mission. He prayed, gave of himself, went wherever God sent him, and mobilised others to join in proclaiming Christ.
Today, the same call rests upon us. We are called to pray, lifting missionaries, churches, and unreached peoples before God. We are called to give, releasing resources for the advancement of the gospel. Many are called to go, crossing streets, cities, and nations with the Good News. All are called to mobilise, inspiring and equipping others for God’s harvest.
As this year’s Mission Week comes to a close, it marks not the end of our focus on missions but the beginning of our response to God’s call. Let us commit afresh to pray faithfully, give generously, go willingly, and mobilise purposefully, until Christ is known among all peoples and the nations rejoice in His salvation.
Prayer: Lord, give us hearts that pray, hands that give, feet that go, and voices that mobilise others, until the nations know and worship Christ, our Lord. Amen
