“Year after year, this man went up from his town to worship and sacrifice to the Lord Almighty at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the Lord.” (1 Samuel 1:3 NIV)
It is another Father’s Day, and our theme this year is “A Faithful Father in a Broken World.” In a time like this, when families are under pressure, values are shifting, and the world seems increasingly unstable, the call for faithful fathers has never been more important. God is still looking for men who will stand like Elkanah—quiet, steady, devoted, and spiritually grounded.
Elkanah lived in a broken generation, yet he chose faithfulness. He led his family to worship, even when circumstances were difficult. He loved his wife with tenderness, supported her in her pain, and listened to her spiritual convictions. He provided for his household with integrity and honoured his commitments to God without hesitation. Through his faithfulness, God raised Samuel, a child who became a prophet and a national reformer.
Today, our world still needs fathers like Elkanah, men whose faithfulness becomes a shelter for their families and a testimony to their generation. Fathers who remain steady when life is unstable. Fathers who choose devotion over convenience, compassion over pressure, and obedience over culture. May God raise faithful fathers who rebuild what is broken and lead their homes in the fear of the Lord.
Happy Father’s Day.
