“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.” (Colossians 1:17-18 NIV)
In Matthew 7:21, Jesus states, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven…” These profound and weighty words compel us to reflect deeply. Many proclaim, “Jesus is Lord!” and call upon his name, claiming to do things in his name. However, Jesus clarifies that these proclamations alone do not guarantee entry into the Kingdom of God.
Our lives should be in submission to Christ as our Lord. Similarly, the church is under his authority. He is the Head of the church, and no one has a claim orownership over it. Christ expects his church to submit to his authority.
May the Lordship of Christ be evident not only in our words but also in the lives we lead and the way our church operates under his guidance.
