Making Every Move with God

“Once again David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him, ‘Go down to Keilah, for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand.’ So David and his men went to Keilah … and saved the people of Keilah.” (1 Samuel 23:4-5 NIV).

The story of David in 1 Samuel 23:4-5 offers us a timeless principle for navigating life’s decisions with divine clarity. These verses capture a pivotal moment in David’s life journey. David was not in a position of comfort or power. He was a fugitive, hunted by King Saul, and surrounded by danger. In addition, he was faced with the threat of the Philistines attacking Keilah. Hence, instead of reacting out of fear or self-preservation, David paused to inquire of the Lord. He sought God’s counsel- not once, but twice- before taking action.

David’s example teaches us that true wisdom lies not in haste, but in humble dependence on God. David’s obedience led to deliverance- not just for himself, but for an entire city. When we align our actions with God’s will, the impact often reaches far beyond our own lives. Obedience becomes a channel for God’s blessing to flow through us to others.

In a world driven by impulse, ambition, and uncertainty; in seasons of anxiety, burnout, or depression, seeking God’s direction can bring clarity and comfort. Are you overwhelmed by life challenges? Pause, prayer, and meditate on Scripture before making any drastic decision. Seek God first, listen well, and obey fully.
