‘“The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and
advance …”’ (Deuteronomy 1:6-7a NIV).
Moses recounts God’s command to the Israelites at Mount Horeb (Sinai) to leave the mountain and advance towards the
Promised Land. This shows that the Israelites had spent significant time at Horeb, and they were reminded that that was not their destination. Hence,
they needed to rise and move forward to reach the destination which God had ordained for them.
Just as the Israelites were commanded to leave their comfort zone and advance into new territories, the church of Christ, in general, and each Christian, in particular, are called to move beyond our current level in all aspects of our lives- particularly in our spiritual journey. We are
called to actively engage in Christian missions and spread the Gospel of Christ to the nations of the earth. Christ has given us the mandate to go to various regions, reach out to diverse groups, and expand the kingdom of God on earth.
Beloved, break camp and advance. Come out of your comfort zone and impact your generation for God.
