Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:6-7 NIV).
Paul emphasizes that our giving is not merely about the amount but the heart issue. He uses agricultural imagery to convey the principle that our generosity corresponds to what we reap. Just as a farmer who sows bountifully expects a generous harvest, when we give, God provides us with every blessing in abundance. And we should realize that only God can define what should be reaped. The benefits we derive from God are beyond monetary; God also blesses us with good health, sound mind, peace, and many more.
Generosity is about the condition of our hearts and its impact on both givers and recipients. When we give, our attitude matters; it should come from a willing heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Our generosity enriches us in every way. It produces thanksgiving to God and overflows with blessings for others.
