‘“David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God. (1 Samuuel 30:6 NIV).
David and his men returned to Ziklag to find it destroyed by the Amalekites, who had taken their families captive. David’s men were “grieved” or “bitter” because of the loss of their families, and David was deeply troubled not only by the loss of his own family but also by the threat from his own men. However, in that devastating situation, David strengthened himself in the Lord and found courage through his faith in the Living God.
