Growing in Grace

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18 NIV)

Growth is one of the clearest signs of life. Anything living grows. A child grows. A seed grows. A relationship grows. And the Christian life is no different. Peter closes his letter with a simple but profound command: “Grow in grace.” Grace is one of the most beautiful words in Scripture. It is God’s unearned, undeserved favor toward us. Paul says in Ephesians 2:8-9 that we are saved by grace, not by works. But grace is not only the doorway into salvation; it is the power that sustains our Christian life.

Growing in grace is not automatic. It requires intentional habits and spiritual posture. Growing in grace requires:

 Staying connected to Christ. You cannot grow apart from.
 Feeding on the Word of God. It is God’s word that builds us up.
 Cultivating a Life of Prayer. Prayer is where we receive strength, wisdom, and renewal.
 Walking in Obedience. Grace empowers obedience, and obedience deepens grace.
 Fellowshipping with other believers. Grace grows in community. Isolation stunts growth. Growing in grace is not a one-time event. It is a lifelong journey, and no one grows spiritually by accident. Therefore, be intentional in your Christian journey towards maturity.
