“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18 NIV)
Growth is one of the clearest signs of life. Anything living grows. A child grows. A seed grows. A relationship grows. And the Christian life is no different. Peter closes his letter with a simple but profound command: “Grow in grace.” Grace is one of the most beautiful words in Scripture. It is God’s unearned, undeserved favor toward us. Paul says in Ephesians 2:8-9 that we are saved by grace, not by works. But grace is not only the doorway into salvation; it is the power that sustains our Christian life.
Growing in grace is not automatic. It requires intentional habits and spiritual posture. Growing in grace requires:
Staying connected to Christ. You cannot grow apart from.
Feeding on the Word of God. It is God’s word that builds us up.
Cultivating a Life of Prayer. Prayer is where we receive strength, wisdom, and renewal.
Walking in Obedience. Grace empowers obedience, and obedience deepens grace.
Fellowshipping with other believers. Grace grows in community. Isolation stunts growth. Growing in grace is not a one-time event. It is a lifelong journey, and no one grows spiritually by accident. Therefore, be intentional in your Christian journey towards maturity.
