“Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came
to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to
lonely places and prayed.” (Luke 5:15-16 NIV).
As Jesus continued to impact lives, ministering from place to place, teaching, healing and delivering the people, the news about Him also continued to spread even more, and large crowds came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. This verse shows the increasing popularity of Jesus and the demand for His teaching and healing. However, despite the demands of His ministry and the growing crowds, Jesus often withdraws to lonely places and prays. Jesus prioritises time alone with God.
This shows that even amidst Jesus’ busy ministry, seeking solitude and communion with God was part of His usual practice. Jesus understood the importance and value of solitude. Beloved, no matter how busy you are and no matter how popular you are becoming, regular withdrawal for prayer and solitude is essential for your spiritual renewal, strength and focus; it enables you to face life’s challenges with greater resilience. Therefore, in your life’s journey, be intentional in developing your spiritual relationship with God.
