In days to come, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ Say to him, ‘With a mighty hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” (Exodus 13:14 NIV).
The Israelites are instructed to observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread as a perpetual reminder of their freedom from slavery in Egypt. Moses told the Israelites that a time would come when fu ture generations would ask about the significance of certain prac tices; they should be told about God’s deliverance. By recounting the story of their deliverance, the Israelites acknowledge God’s power and sovereignty.
Our remembrance of the past deeds of God helps strengthen our faith and trust in God’s continued provision and protection. As believers, it is essential that we always remember and celebrate God’s past acts of salvation in our lives and pass down the stories of God’s faithfulness to our children. Passing down the stories of God’s faithfulness helps future generations understand and appre ciate their spiritual heritage and is crucial for the survival of our faith.
