May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the people justly and guide the nations of the earth. May the people praise you, O God; may all the people praise you. (Psalm 67:4-5 NIV).
This psalm is a beautiful missionary psalm that expresses the writer’s heart’s desire to see God’s way, salvation, and praise extended throughout the earth. The Psalmist proclaimed that nations would serve the Lord once they recognize His ways. It is not about the nationalistic mentality of God as the God of the
Jews, but he wants all the people to be blessed by God and enable them to sing for joy to the Lord.
This psalm speaks of God’s blessing upon Israel, which has been extended to us through faith in Christ Jesus. We have now received mercy, salvation, joy, justice and provision. Therefore, if God’s name would be praised throughout the earth, we have the responsibility to share this good news with others and invite them to experience God’s mercy, salvation and blessings as well. May God’s face continually shine upon us, and may His way be known throughout the earth.
